Asian Lady Beetle on grassAsian Lady Beetles
Asian lady beetles can bite or pinch and can be a nuisance if they decide to enter your home. These winged pests are oval to round shaped ranging from 1/32-3/8’’ in size. They are multicolored and can be red, orange, yellow, brown, or black with markings. They have a “M” shaped white spot on their head compared to a ladybug that does not have this. When disturbed, they will release a yellow, foul-smelling fluid. As temperatures start to drop at night in late August and early September, they seek shelter to get out of the cold. These home invaders find tiny openings in your home, such as cracks in your siding, gaps in your eaves, or crevices in your trim to hibernate.
